Pride Photography Project

Pride Photography Project

Gabby Bentham Photography welcomes all walks of life. One of our awareness photography projects is for the LGBTQIA2S+ members of the Bulkley Valley. These are free photo sessions and will also be extended to individuals or local businesses who are in support of the LGBTQIA2S+ community.

Throughout the years, GBP has received several messages from people stating how they do not feel welcome or safe in their own community, which is not how Smithers should be represented. Our community needs to show kindness, acceptance, and love for everyone.

This project showcases those who are part of or in support of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and are wanting to share their stories. It is important that these experiences are shared to spread more awareness around how to best support every person in the community.

Here is the story of local individual Iris:

“ I am honoured to participate in such an important display of visibility and pride Growing up in the North, being different wasn’t always accepted. Drag has helped me celebrate the parts of myself that make me unique. As Iris, I feel empowered to be the most authentic version of myself. Drag is not scary or threatening, it is pure joy and freedom of expression. Drag is for everyone!”
